10U Baseball Practice Plan: 90 Minutes
Infield and outfield in one practice. Speed up the ground balls, clean up the first step, and start talking.

90 minutes, start to finish
Ninety minutes is my standard. It leaves room for real skill blocks and a closer that runs long enough to matter. This plan puts infield and outfield in the same practice: speed up the ground balls, clean up the first step, and get the kids talking.
At 9U and 10U the kids are ready for more speed and the basics of team defense, like who covers and who backs up. Start keeping score. Move to the harder version of a drill once the easier one is clean. Not sure what 10U means? See what each age division looks like.

Swap a drill if one isn’t landing. Some days kids need a game, and that’s fine.
One setup, every practice
Warm-up, opener, skill blocks, closer, wrap up. Kids learn the rhythm, and you stop starting from scratch.
- OpenerGet them moving and touching a ball right away. Short drills, lots of reps, no lines.
- Skill blocksWhere the teaching happens. One focus per block. With two coaches, run them as stations.
- CloserEnd with some competition. A game with a winner, so they leave asking to play it again.
- Water and wrap upWater breaks double as coaching time. Wrap up with one thing we did well, one thing to work on, and hands in.
At 9U to 10U
- One setup, more speed. Start keeping score.
- Add the basics of team defense: who covers, who backs up.
- Move to the harder version once the easier one is clean.

Common questions
How many drills should one practice have?
Follow the plan, but be flexible. If a drill is working, run it longer. If you’re running through them quickly, add a competition. These drills and plans are guides, so use them to do what works for your team.
